Lee Chong Wei wins gold, beat Rajiv Ouseph

Datuk Lee Chong Wei won the gold medal in the men's singles badminton at the 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG). In the battle of the two top seeds, England’s Rajiv Ouseph fails to halt the juggernaut that is Malaysia’s world number 1 Lee Chong Wei. Lee Chong Wei has beaten Rajiv Ouseph at 21-10, 21-8, much in the same way as his previous four opponents. "Although I am No. 1 in the world, I couldn't have missed the games because the country needed the medal," said Lee. This prove him the only the second player to make a successful defence of the Commonwealth men's singles title, his compatriot Rashid Sidek doing so in 1994. Lee's victory was cheered by the Indian spectators who did not want England to win any more medals so that India could finish second in the medals tally at the games.

Koo Kien Keat and Chin Eei Hui pumped out for Commonwealth 2010

Koo Kien Keat gains a historic breakthrough for Malaysia in Commonwealth Games badminton. Kien Keat hit the jackpot in his mixed doubles partnership with Chin Eei Hui. Kien Keat and Eei Hui beat England's Nathan Robertson-Jenny Wallwark 22-20, 21-12 in 43 minutes. . “We were tensed in the beginning and we conceded easy points but we were patient and really gald that it paid off,” said Kien Keat.  The English pair led 5-0 and 10-7 in the first game before Kien Keat and Eei Hui hit a purple patch to lead 14-12 before stretching it to 20-14 but their game then fell apart as they allowed Robertson-Jenny to draw level at 20-20. "We made some mistakes early on but we were always in control after we settle down the problems," added Kien Keat. However, he covered well for Eei Hui and he single-handedly won the next three points to take the tight first game.
